binomial_authority = James, 1972 "Peltorhamphus tenuis" is a righteye flounder of the family Pleuronectidae, found only around New Zealand in shallow enclosed waters such as estuaries, harbours, mudflats, and sandflats, in waters less than 100 m in depth. "Peltorhamphus tenuis" is very similar to the New Zealand sole, "Peltorhamphus novaezeelandiaea", and only varies in being smaller and having more vertebrae than the New Zealand sole.
