Tangerang Regency

Tangerang Regency

Tangerang Regency is a regency of Banten province, Indonesia. The current regent is H. Ismet Iskandar. It has an area of 1,157 km² and population 3,194,282 (2005), excluding the municipality of Tangerang City itself. Though commonly misunderstood as being a part of Jakarta, it is actually part of Jabotabek, the metropolitan area surrounding Jakarta. Tigaraksa is the capital of the regency.

The Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is located in the regency.

Tangerang Regency is bounded by Java Sea to the north, Jakarta and Tangerang City to the east, and West Java and Lebak Regency to the south.Tangerang Regency is subdivided into 36 subdistricts,which is furthermore divided into several villages and administrative villages. The centre of administration is located in the Tangerang subdistrict.
