Geronimo (Astroboy 1980)

Geronimo (Astroboy 1980)

Geronimo is a fictional computer from Canadian dub of the 1980 series Astro Boy.

Very little is known about where Geronimo actually came from, but what is seen is that Geronimo is a computer that resides in the Ministry of Science in Japan, and probably runs a lot of the day-to-day operations.

He was first seen in the episode "Birth of Astroboy" when Dr. Tenma (Boynton) tried to activate Astro's predecessor, which quickly turned into a disaster when the android burst into flames and ran rampant in the lab briefly before being destroyed, overloading Geronimo's power supply(?) in the process.

In later episodes, Geronimo was seen "alive" and well. At the end of each episode in the Canadian dub, Astro would report to him and recount the events of the day, after being escorted down by Dr. Peabody (Prof. Elefun) and after brief introduction narrative from Geronimo himself.

Little is said about the relationship between Astro and Geronimo, and is perhaps still under speculation among fans of the Canadian dub to this day.

It can also be said that Geronimo can be a second father figure to Astro, since he had a hand in his activation, Astro and Geronimo may even be friends, due to the mutual circumstances they share by being non-human.
