Edanadu

Edanadu

Edanadu is a region in Central Travancore, comprising parts of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam districts.

Edanadu comprises Tiruvalla, Mallapally, western parts of Kozhencherry taluk and Pandalam, Pandalam Thekkekkara and Thumpamon panchayats of Pathanamthitta district; Chengannur, Mavelikara taluks, Talavady, Edathua, Muttar panchayats in Kuttanad taluk and Viyapuram panchayat in Karthikapally taluk in Alappuzha district; and Payippad panchayat of Changanacherry taluk in Kottayam district.

There is a demand for a separate Edanadu district with Tiruvalla as headquarters. The proposed Taluks in Edanadu districts are Mallapally, Kozhencherry, Pandalam, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, and Upper Kuttanad (Edathua).
