WWAX (92.1 FM, "92.1 Lite FM") is an adult contemporary music formatted radio station in Duluth, Minnesota, owned by Red River Broadcasting of Fargo, North Dakota. The studios are located at Grandma's Marketplace in Canal Park in Duluth. Its primary competitor is Midwest Communications' KDAL-FM "95.7 The Bridge".

History

The station signed on in 1996 carrying a modern adult contemporary satellite feed. A change to locally programming was made in 1997. Upon going to local programmed CHR/Top 40 format, WWAX branded itself as "92.1 Kiss FM" until being warned by Clear Channel which holds the copyright for the "Kiss" moniker. The station later changed its moniker to "92.1 The Beat" by 2004. It had fluctuated between the formats of Modern AC, Hot AC, Top 40 (CHR) and Adult CHR from 1997 to early 2007, and competed with KBMX "Mix 108".

92.1 The Beat tweaked its format to rhythmic leaning CHR in February 2007, and went adult contemporary as "92.1 Lite FM" on February 29, 2008.
