CKEC-FM is New Glasgow, Nova Scotia's main radio station. It has been on the air since December 23, 1953. Originally broadcasting at 1230 kHz, it moved to 1320 kHz in 1960.

In 2006, the station was licensed by the CRTC to convert to FM. [ [http://www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/Decisions/2006/db2006-87.htm CRTC Decision 2006-87] ] As of December 11, 2007, CKEC launched its FM station, 94.1 at 9:41 a.m. Simulcasting remained on both the AM and FM stations for 90 days, before converting entirely to FM. The transmitter tower, situated on Mount Thom, features the latest in technology and FM broadcast engineering, and ensures the highest quality FM signal possible.
