Zoltán Székely (
December 8 ,1903 ,Hungary –October 5 ,2001 ,Canada ) was a violinist and composer.He studied violin and composition at the
Franz Liszt Academy inBudapest .He was a friend of
Béla Bartók and was the one to request the composition of Bartók's 2nd Violin Concerto and its dedicatee as well as performer at its premiere.He formed the
Hungarian String Quartet , where he played the first violin from 1937 through 1972.He was named Honorary Professor by the Franz Liszt Academy in 1981, which marked Bartók's centenary.
