Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels

Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels

"Brick Up The Mersey Tunnels" is a play about the story of the Kingsway Three, a fictitious terrorist organisation, and their plans to brick up the Tunnels which join Liverpool to the Wirral. It was written by Dave Kirby and Nicky Alt, and performed at the Royal Court Theatre, Liverpool from 3 to 26 August 2006.

"It’s a surreal comedy about these three guys who for one reason or another have an axe to grind with the Wirral. They end up forming a company called The Kingsway Three. We have a set of a café on the Dock Road and a set on the Wirral called The Blue Rinse Mansion. It’s a lot of fun and I think one of the qualities of this region, Merseyside, is that we can all laugh at each other and laugh at ourselves. This play is certainly written in that context." - Dave Kirby and Nicky Alt [ [http://www.bbc.co.uk/liverpool/content/articles/2006/08/14/brick_up_the_mersey_tunnels_feature.shtml BBC - Liverpool - Entertainment - Brick up the Mersey Tunnels? ] ]
