December 5 ,1960 in Rehburg,Lower Saxony ,Germany ) was a German footballer, World Champion with West Germany in1990 FIFA World Cup despite not being used a single time by coachFranz Beckenbauer in the tournament. In Germany, Hermann's presence in the World Cup winning squad is hardly remembered, although other members, that also not kicked a ball in the tournament, (such as strikerFrank Mill ) are rather easily identified as part of the World Cup winning squad.A one-time Bundesliga champion with SV Werder Bremen in 1988 he recorded just 2 international caps for Germany in his professional career, debuting on
September 21 ,1988 , in a friendly against the Soviet Union (1-0) inDüsseldorf . His other appearance took place in the final test of West Germany ahead of the1990 FIFA World Cup , whenFranz Beckenbauer selected a rather experimental line-up out of his World Cup squad.Being almost an ever-present regular for SV Werder Bremen throughout the years, Hermann turned his back on the club in the season after Werder'sCup Winners Cup triumph overAS Monaco atLisbon 'sEstadio da Luz in 1992. That transfer to fellow Bundesliga sideSG Wattenscheid 09 saw him take part for two more years on Bundesliga level, leaving theBochum -based club for then 2nd Bundesliga teamHannover 96 .He later started a career in coaching, but has yet to lead a professional team as manager in the game.
