Kevin Prendergast is the Assistant General Manager for the
National Hockey League 'sEdmonton Oilers . Prendergast was also the former Vice President of Hockey Operations and former head scout for the Edmonton Oilers. He replacedBarry Fraser in the year 2000, and has successfully used his picks to stock the Oilers prospect shelves for many years to come until he was succeeded byStu MacGregor .Prendergast joined the Oilers organization since 1990. He serves as the Oilers’ representative on the American Hockey League’s board of governors and serves as the Director of Player Personnel for both the
Springfield Falcons (AHL) andStockton Thunder (ECHL).Prendergast joined the Oilers following seven seasons working with NHL Central Scouting as the Assistant Director of Scouting. From 1983-84 to 1989-90 he was responsible for all scouting assignments and scheduling while also scouting the three major junior hockey leagues. In 1985-86 he also worked with the Canadian National Team in preparation for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary.
Graduating from
Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978, he quarterbacked the Huskies football team to three consecutiveAtlantic Universities Athletic Association conference championships from 1975 to 1977. He also played one season with theVerdun Maple Leafs of theQuebec Major Junior Hockey League and was the leading scorer for theDawson College Blues ofMontreal for two consecutive seasons before attending Saint Mary’s University.
