In 1990 he received theKansas Literary Artists Fellowship in Fiction, and in 1996 the KansasGovernor's Arts Award . His novel "The Automotive History of Lucky Kellerman" was a selection of theBook-of-the-Month Club . His writings have earned aNational Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, twoO. Henry Awards. Currently the Chair, Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program atAntioch University .Works
