Operation Kept Promise

"Operation Kept Promise" (Al-Waad Al-Sadek) is the name Hezbollah gave to its operation to kidnap Israeli soldiers as collateral for a prisoner exchange. Operation Al Waad al Saadek means Operation Kept Promise in Arabic.

The name comes from the vow of Sheik Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary General of Hezbollah, to gain the freedom of Lebanese prisoners in Israeli jails, variously reported as 3 to 15 in number.Fact|date=September 2007 These include common criminals.Fact|date=September 2007 At the top of Nasrallah's list is Samir Kuntar.Fact|date=September 2007 Shortly after the kidnapping Hezbollah's television station Al Manar broadcast interview with Kuntar's mother expressing assurances her son would soon be freed.Fact|date=September 2007
