Background

Tayib Rauf was born in England. He is one of five children born to parents Abdul and Saima. Tayib has three brothers and one sister. Due to a childhood illness, Tayib is partially deaf.

Authorities believe that Rashid has links to al-Qaeda and was a leader in the plot to blow up jetliners with liquid explosives.
