Richard van Emden is a British author and television documentary producer who specialises in the
First World War . Born inNottingham in 1965, Van Emden specialises in first-person testimonies of people who lived through World War I.In writing his histories, he has interviewed over 270 veterans of The Great War. As of 2007, he has visited the
Somme andYpres every year since 1985 and has an expert knowledge of theFirst World War battlefields.He lives in
London .
