Albert Dennis Kirwan (
December 22 ,1904 inLouisville, Kentucky ,United States –November 30 ,1971 ) was the seventh President of theUniversity of Kentucky . He also was the head football coach at the University from 1938-1944.Kirwan received the A.B. degree from UK in 1926, an M.A. degree from the
University of Louisville in 1944 and was awarded anLL.B. degree from the Jefferson School of Law and a doctorate fromDuke University , in 1947. professor and an administrator, serving as Dean of Men, Dean of Students, and Dean of the Graduate School. He served as president of the university for a short period in 1968 prior toOtis Singletary 's presidency.
