Grange Hotel, Brampton

The Grange Hotel is an historic buildingFact|date=August 2008 located in Brampton, Cambridgeshire, England.

Originally built as a private house in 1773, The Grange has had a varied history. In the 1820s it was owned by local philanthropist Lady Bernard Sparrow of Brampton Park, who used it as a girls school. On her death it passed to her son-in-law, the Duke of Manchester, who sold it as a private residence.

Extensive building work was carried out in the 1860s which gave the house a more Victorian character. During the Second World War it was requisitioned and became the headquarters and operations centre of the American Eighth Air Force.
n 1981 the Grange was converted to a hotel. It was run by Nick and Susanna Steiger from 2000 until May 2007, when it changed ownership, and is now run as a guest house.
