New California Network (NCN) is a non-partisan, non-profit, think tank and advocacy center in California, United States. NCN develops and advocates non-partisan and broadly supported reforms that will rebuild the fiscal foundation and improve the performance and accountability of state government with the purpose of making California prosperous, safe and healthy for all of its residents. It is based in Sacramento, California.

History

New California Network was founded in 2006 in California by the Bay Area Economic Forum and Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network to do research, analysis, public education, and civic engagement that will contribute to improvements in the fiscal management and overall performance of state governments. NCN involves business, labor, local government and education leaders and partners with other like-minded organizations to increase its impact.

In July 2006, New California Network released its first report, In Search of Fiscal Responsibility, An Analysis of State Fiscal Choices by Mr. J. Fred Silva.

  • 1) State leaders need to set priorities and live within the state's means.
  • 2) Public dollars need to be better managed.
  • 3) State and local governments need to work together.
  • 4) We need to build and protect California
  • 5) California needs a 21st century tax system for a 21st century economy.
