Paul Borrington

Paul Borrington

Paul Michael Borrington (born May 24, 1988 in Nottingham) is an English cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler who currently plays for Derbyshire.

Despite an unpromising debut which saw him only score four runs, against Leicestershire before being dismissed, in September 2005, he later played his part in getting Derbyshire up to what was then their highest ever total of 707-7 declared, thanks to two innings in excess of 150 from Steve Stubbings and Hassan Adnan, against Somerset. A gritty, determined batsman for the Second XI, coach David Houghton's faith in the young player has caused him to achieve great things at this early stage in his career.

Borrington has evolved into a steady opening batsman for the Derbyshire team. He was rewarded the Denis Compton NBC Award for the most promising youngster at his club. Borrington's father, Anthony, also played First-class cricket for Derbyshire.

In September 2007 Borrington made his debut half-century for the Derbyshire team.
