The Wife of Martin Guerre

"The Wife of Martin Guerre" (first published 1941) is a short novel by an American writer Janet Lewis. The novel speculates how the life of Bertrande, Martin Guerre’s wife, copes with exceptional circumstances in 16th century France.

The novel has been on the Victorian Certificate of Education unit 3 + 4 book list, in Australia since 2004.
