This group contains some of thetooth fungi , such as the genera "Hydnellum " and the edible but bitter toothed fungus "Sarcodon imbricatus " (although most others are in the "Russulales ") as well as several other species with varying characteristics, such as the blue chanterelle, "Polyozellus multiplex".The Thelephorales were discovered through
molecular phylogeny , and have few uniting morphological characters.Thelephorales are used by scientist for experimentation for cloning.
