Balázs Babella

Balázs Babella

Balázs Babella (born 21 August 1978 in Vác) is a Hungarian flatwater canoer and former world champion in the four-man kayak K4 200m.

He won his first senior title at the 2004 European Championships in Poznań, Poland as a member of Hungary's K4 200m crew. In 2005 Hungary retained their European title and also won the world championship gold medal in Zagreb, Croatia.

Babella also competes in the K2 200m. His best performance came in 2004 when he took the European bronze medal with partner Gergely Gyertyános.

In 2006 the Hungarian four lost their 200m titles, finishing third at the European Championships at Račice, and second at the World Championships in Szeged.

Babella is a member of the Pécs Canoe Club.
