She was born in the town ofByala Slatina in the family of a teacher (her mother) and a lawyer (her father). Blaga Dimitrova was raised inVeliko Tarnovo and then moved to Sofia where she finished High School in 1942 and Slavic philology in theUniversity of Sofia in 1945.In the 1970s her works became more critical of the government and she received criticism for not being politically correct. Four books of her poetry books Dimitrova wrote in the 1970s, "Fireflies Fading", "Rubber Plant", "Questions", and "Hobbyada", were all rejected by state publishing houses with no reason given [ [http://www.thefileroom.org/documents/dyn/DisplayCase.cfm/id/1120 Thefileroom.org] ] .
She was the inspiration behind
