KTMW is a full-service television station in Salt Lake City, Utah, broadcasting locally in analog on UHF channel 20 as an independent religious broadcaster. Founded December 8,1997, the station is owned by Alpha & Omega Communications.

Digital television

Because it was granted an original construction permit after the FCC finalized the DTV allotment plan on April 21, 1997 [http://www.transmitter.com/FCC97115/chanplan.html] , the station did not receive a companion channel for a digital television station. Instead, on or before February 17, 2009, which is the end of the digital TV conversion period for full-service stations, KTMW will be required to turn off its analog signal and turn on its digital signal (called a "flash-cut").

Trivia

* Channel 20 was the original home of KSTU, the area's Fox affiliate, from 1978 to 1987. As part of an FCC-approved deal, the KSTU intellectual unit moved to channel 13 in 1987 and currently operates under a separate license. The old channel 20 license was deleted; KTMW's license dates from December 8, 1997.
