Pella Prefecture , Macedonia,Greece . Formerly the capital of the defunctAlmopia eparchy, the municipality is located in the northwest corner of the prefecture, bordering the southern part of theformer Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and the northeast corner of theFlorina Prefecture . It is the eighth-largest municipality in Greece, with a land area of 562.910 km². Its population is 20,213 (2001 census). Its municipal seat is the town of Aridaía (pop. 5,600). Its largest other towns are Prómachoi (pop. 1,825), Sosándra (1,206), Ápsalos (1,178), Loutráki (1,163), Polykárpi (1,071), Tsákoi (1,020), Voreinó (871), and Χifianí (850). The municipality is divided into 17 municipal districts.References
