Hip Parade are a four-piece rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. Their live show has gained the band many followers across the United Kingdom helped by the bands relentless tour schedules. Described as having "“Great stage presence, and brand of dance-rock interspersed with really intelligent pop sensibilities”" [ [http://www.leedsmusicscene.net/article/4234/ leedsmusicscene.co.uk] ] , Hip Parade have remained undiscovered by the public eye and continue to tour across the UK gathering new followers.

Hip Parade

Hip Parade released their debut single "Slow Me Down" under the band's DIY label Random Disc Records in the UK and on 'Eegit Records' in Japan. The band have performed many of the UK’s premiere underground venues including five appearances to date at Glasgow’s legendary King Tut's Wah Wah Hut as well as sellout shows at the ABC2, and Nice N Sleay, Glasgow. The band are relatively unknown at present but are steadily pushing their way into the limelight with dedicated follower at home in Glasgow as well as across the country in Aberdeen, Leeds, Manchester, London, Bristol. "“They have that Franz-and-more Glasgow disco-punk beat stuffed with hi-hats, but this is no skinny-tie art band - there's about 10 times more energy for a start and the guitars are straight out of punk without the funk”" [ [http://www.music-dash.co.uk/live/live.asp?item=1043 manchestermusic.co.uk] ] .

Near Death / The Return

Following the release of the bands debut single a collection of new songs were released on free download to thank all of their fans for buying the record. The band disappeared from the live scene after a UK tour in October 2006 to record and write new material but this was interrupted by the attempted murder of lead singer Rob Shah. Rob was violently attacked on Glasgow's Bath Street following a Velvet Revolver show at which friends of Rob Zico Chain were supporting. Rob was rushed to hospital with a severed artery after being stabbed in the neck. After life saving surgery the front man made a speedy recovery and the band made a return to the live stage in June 2008 with a sell out show at Nice N Sleazy, Glasgow. The set featured new material including "All the Bad Kids" which is believed to be about the attack on the bands lead singer. The band announced that there are no immediate plans to make a full return but this would not be the last ever performance by the band.
