The company began in the tiny French village of
Audun le Tiche , whereFrançois Boch set up a pottery company with his three sons in1748 . Later, the company moved to nearbyLuxembourg , where it still operates a porcelain factory today. In 1801 the companymoved to the nearby town ofMettlach ,Germany . On April 14, 1836, the Jean François Boch company merged with that of a competitor, Nicolas Villeroy, and became Villeroy & Boch, V&B.Current situation
The present Group Chairman of Villeroy & Boch, Frank Goering, is no longer a family member. Various family members are presently working in the company. Since
1990 the company has been listed on the Germanstock market , ticker symbol VIB3, but the voting capital is still in the hands of the family descendants.The company is famous worldwide for innovative designs of co-ordinated tableware, glassware, cutlery, and accessories.
