Lars E. Hanssen (born 26.Mai 1949 Norwegian)
Professor of Medicine Lars E. Hanssen Ph.D. has been Director General of
Norwegian Board of Health Supervision since 2001. From 1994 to 2001 he was deputy Director General. He came fromRikshospitalet University Hospital, where he held positions as Medical Director and Professor.He holds medical specialities in
Internal Medicine (1986),Gastroenterology (1986) andEndocrinology (1989).Lars E. Hanssen chairs the Governing Council of the
International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), WHO in Lyon. He has published 200 scientific papers, been Editor-in-Chief of Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology (editions in English, Spanish and Chinese) and is former Chair of the Research Board on Medicine and Health, Research Council of Norway.In 1989 Hanssen finished Master study of Health Administration at the
University of Oslo , in 1990 the Educational Staff Development Programme (Pedagogics for university teachers), in 1995 Norwegian Defence College, and in 2000NATO Defence College in Rome.He is now Professor of Medicine (Biotechnology in Public Health) at
University of Bergen and Chairs the Faculty Council, Faculty of Medicine,Norwegian University of Science and Technology , Trondheim.ee also
