Portugal competed in the Summer Olympic Games for the first time at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden.

A delegation of six competitors participated in three sports, however no medal was conquered. Of reference, the death of the runner Francisco Lázaro due to serious dehydration during the marathon race.

Athletics

Fencing

A single fencer represented Portugal in that nation's Olympic debut. Fernando Correia was disqualified in the first round of the épée competition.
