Ballal (Ballala) is a surname mostly found in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts of Karnataka state, India. Ballal was generally a surname of local kings or chieftains in Tulu Nadu. Ballal surname is also found in vidarbha region of Maharashtra. The surname is found in Deshastha Brahmins Community in this region.
