Pokomi

Pokomi (ポコミ) is a fictional character and magical girl of the manga series Shinsetsu Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo

Pokomi

Pokomi is the younger sister of Heppokomaru, the commander of Neo F-Block, and the top student at the Neo Maruhage Empire's elite training academy. She is a very cheerful and bright young girl, and also serves as a useful fighter on the Shinsetsu Nonsense Team during Shinsetsu Bo-bobo-bo Bo-bobo.

Captive Sibling/Magical Commander

After Heppokomaru is taken to the hospital due to his injury from Babuu, he explains his true reason for joining the Neo Maruhage Empire: Tsuru Tsurulina the 3rd threatened to hurt his younger sister, Pokomi, if he didn't join them. At Heppokomaru's request, Bo-bobo, Beauty, Don Patch, and Namero head over to the city of Nagoya where the Neo F-Block base was.

Pokomi is first introduced in Chapter 23 of Shinsetsu as the hostage of the Nagoya Brothers, who posed as the Neo F-Block commander and vice commanders perspectively. With Tennosuke/Jelly Jiggler rejoining the team, Bo-bobo and his comrads defeat the brothers with ease and rescue Pokomi, only to have her reveal herself as the true Neo F-Block commander.

Initially coming off with the perception that Bo-bobo's team is evil after being with the evil empire for a while, Pokomi shows off her Lovely Magical Shinken (Fist of Lovely Magic) on Bo-bobo's team. Although she seems weak at a glance, she manages to nearly defeat all of the team members with her magical attacks and nearly fatally injurs Beauty, but she is thankfully saved by Shinsetsu TenBobo, another one of Bo-bobo's newest fusions. Even after receiving a power-up from a force known as the "Black Soul," she is overwhelmed by Shinsetsu TenBobo's powers and in the end, surrenders after hearing about what had happened to her older brother. She is nearly captured by another student of the Maruhage Academy, but she defeated him, and became the last of the rebels to join Bo-bobo's new cause

The Magical Girl on the Nonsense Team

Throughout Shinsetsu, Pokomi switches between major and minor roles, switching between fighting and sitting on the sidelines. In Chapter 30, during a 4-on-4 battle against the 4 Heavenly Kings of the Maruhage Academy, she participates on battle and is nearly strangled by Zuno, the leader, but is rescued by Ikarin Patch. In Chapter 45, she is turned into a dice block by Princess Chinchiro of Tokyo's 23 Wards. She has also participated in Torpedo Girl's rigorous training session.

Pokomi's major battle in the series was against GURA-san the Punisher, the last of the Neo Maruhage Empire's "Black Gambling Corp." alongside Don Patch and Jelly Jiggler with a new second-stage magical girl uniform. Although she is nearly helpless against his attacks at first, she manages to pull it together by saving herself from nearly being sliced in half by him by transforming into a mass of bubbles, and with the help of the other two Hajikelists, destroys GURA-san's source of power (A demonic portal where the demons used in his attacks emerge from) and finishes him off with a Magical Girl-style song.

Pokomi continues to both fight and stay on the sidelines for the remainder of the series, having helped defeat Shiruyen Kamara's minons and helping Bo-bobo during the final battle with Tsuru Tsurulina. Her main goal was to bring Namero, her best friend, to his senses and end his regin as Tsuru Tsurulina V, but her pleas were deaf to him, up until Chapter 72 when Bo-bobo had praised him for how strong he had become. Pokomi is last seen in Chapter 72 of the series.

Personality and Appearance

Pokomi has an archetypal personality of a magical girl: Cheery, optimistic, and is friendly and believing in anyone she meets, even towards the bitter and uncaring Namero Yokonaka. Her pigtails occasionally match her mood; whenever she is sad, her pigtails go down.

Pokomi's regular clothing includes a red spaghetti-strap tank-top and red shorts. A ribbon adorned with a star is adorned on the middle of her shirt. Her blonde hair is generally tied up in two pigtails. She also has a somewhat slightly overdeveloped body for her young age.

Pokomi's magical girl combat outfit is a skintight red bodysuit that exposes her navel, legs, and neck and shoulders with matching gloves and go-go boots. A star buckle with feathers is included, along with a green scarf. The magical wand she uses is a pink heart-shaped wand with white devil wings.

Pokomi's second magical girl uniform is a bit more revealing than the first one. Pokomi has a bubble-patterned light blue skirt complete with blue armor, boots, and gloves that expose the navel. Underneath the armor are skintight biker shorts. The beads that hold her hair up are now shaped like raindrops, and her wand is transformed into a blue-colored water drop that takes on a crystal appearance.

Character Relationships

Pokomi is generally well-loved by everyone on both Bo-bobo's team and also with the Neo Maruhage Empire. As far as her relationship with her brother goes, Pokomi loves Heppokomaru very much. She also shows love for Beauty, calling her "onechan" (Big Sister), and usually turns to her whenever she is upset. Bo-bobo sees her as a valuable ally as well as Don Patch and Tennosuke, even tough the relationship breaches during comedic moments. Even Babuu of the empire seems to have shown kindness to Pokomi.

The main relationship Pokomi has in the series is with Namero, who despises her for both being stronger than him and for pestering him to become her friend. He is greatly shocked to discover that she was Heppokomaru's sister and becomes heavily irritated when she stays around him. Despite his hardheadedness, Pokomi often tries to protect and assist Namero whenever she can, such as during Chapter 36, when Namero was injured from using his awakened power to fight Bo-bobo. During the final battle with him and Tsuru Tsurulina, Pokomi expressed that she would even join Namero if he stayed on the empire's side.

Abilities

Lovely Magical Shinken (Fist of Lovely Magic): Pokomi's main shinken ability, she has the power to control any form of magic, whether it be objects or any other type of magic, much like a Japanese magical girl. In her second costume, Pokomi also gains control over water to an extent, especially considering that she uses bubbles in many of her attacks.

* Pokomi's name is actually derived from her brother, Heppokomaru's first name. It is shown in the middle of his name (ヘッポコ丸) whereas Pokomi's name is spelled as ポコミ, with the "ma" in maru and "mi" as the difference.
