James Turnbull

James Turnbull

James Turnbull is an Australian free software and open source author, security specialist, and software developer. He lives in Melbourne, Australia.

Career

Turnbull has been involved in the open source community since the mid-1990s. He has published three books on Linux security and open source software:

* Hardening Linux (Apress 2004)
* Pro Nagios 2.0 (Apress 2006)
* Pulling Strings with Puppet (Apress 2008)

Turnbull was the Treasurer, member of the papers committee, and coordinated the mini-conference program at linux.conf.au 2008.

He is also a member of Linux Australia, including sitting on the Exective Council in 2008, and the Linux Users of Victoria.

Free Software involvement

Turnbull is a contributor to the qpsmtpd SMTP daemon, the Puppet configuration management tool, and the Facter system inventory tool.
