The team was based inBeijing .The Name of
Bayi (八一) means that "Ba" (八) is for eight and "Yi" (一) is for one. This name comes from thePeople's Liberation Army 's establishment in 1st August,1927.Bayi had a long history of honors and won the national title five times before 1986. However, as a part of the
People's Liberation Army , Bayi can not introduce foreign players and attract sponsors.After the formation the
Chinese Football Association Jia League (nowChinese Super League ) in 1994, Bayi moved its home city almost every year for financial reasons. Their home cities includeTaiyuan ,Xi'an ,Kunming ,Shijiazhuang ,XinXiang ,Liuzhou andXiangtan ,Hunan . In these years, Bayi had many named due to sponsorship, include Bayi Zhengbang, and Bayi Xiangtan.Bayi Football Team was disbanded in 2003 by the
