Ray Eberle

Ray Eberle

Ray Eberle (19 January, 1919 Mechanicville, New York - 25 August, 1979 Douglasville, Georgia) was a vocalist during the Big Band Era. Eberle sang with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and later became one of the members of the group The Modernaires. He was born in Mechanicville, New York, and was the brother of another famous Big Band singer, Bob Eberly, who sang with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. Glenn Miller ran a tight ship, he usually fired people after the first incident. Miller tried to give Eberle a second chance, because he was the lead male singer. He was replaced by Skip Nelson. Some of his best songs with the band were "Stairway to The Stars" and "Wishing". He helped create the Glenn Miller sound and also influence the big-band singing world, because of the Band's Popularity.

He died in Douglasville, Georgia in 1979.
