The Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Management ( _ro. Ministerul Mediului şi Dezvoltării Durabile) is one of the fifteen ministries of the Government of Romania. The institution was known as the Ministry of Environment and Waters Management ( _ro. Ministerul Mediului şi Gospodăririi Apelor) before April 2007.

Only 57-58% of Romania's population has access to safe drinking water. For comparison, the Sub-Saharan African median is 57% and all industrialized countries have figures of 100%.
