Battle of Maroun al-Ras

Maroun al-Ras is a small town in southern Lebanon on the border with Israel.The village, which was a Hezbollah stronghold, was the site of combat during the 2006 Lebanon War.

On July 22,2006 2,000 Israeli troops entered southern Lebanon. The battle for Maroun al-Ras began on July 25, and lasted for 4 days, with see-saw control of the village. After-battle reports claimed the IDF troops never fully secured the border area and that Maroun al-Ras was never fully taken.
