Early life
Born in
Rapid City, South Dakota , Maitland and her family moved toScottsdale, Arizona when she was seven. By age thirteen she had already appeared in numerous community theatre and dinner theatre productions. She attendedArizona State University , majoring in music and theatre. Maitland moved to Los Angeles in 1978 and worked in night clubs while taking acting classes at the Los Angeles Film Industry Workshop.Career
On television, Maitland has appeared in several made-for-television movies, and a supporting role in one film. Her intense and well-known feud with
Christian McLaughlin (she tried to get him fired) began in 1989.Personal life
During Beth's free time, she and her husband raise and train horses. She also enjoys swimming, racquetball and bicycling. Maitland devotes her time to charitable organizations, such as the American Heart Association and The American Cancer Society.
