Steve Fitzhugh

Steve Fitzhugh (born January 28, 1963 in Akron, Ohio) is a former professional American football player with the Denver Broncos. He began as a track and field all-star, becoming one of the top five sprinters in the country. He was recruited for the University of Miami on a full athletic scholarship to play football. There he was the captain of the football and track teams his senior year. Known as an "intimidating hitter", he was heavily recruited by the NFL. He signed with the Denver Broncos in 1986. He is now an author and humorist and spends much of his time communicating with teens about drugs, alcohol, and religion. He travels around the nation as a guest speaker at church retreats, schools, and other events. Very active in southeast Washington D.C., Steve Fitzhugh bought 3 former crack houses there to create "The House", a youth center which ministers to teenagers in the community. Fitzhugh is also very active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes 'OneWay2Play-Drug Free' program. He was a guest speaker at Breakaway 2007 with The Falls Church, from Falls Church, Virginia.
