Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering, a premier educational trust formed and managed by eminent educationalists, philanthropists and technocrats of Visakhapatnam has established "College of Engineering" in 1996 for the promotion of Quality Technical Education in Andhra Pradesh and in India as well.

The G.V.P.College of Engineering located in madhurwada,visakhapatnam started with an intake of 200 in four branches of Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering) is now offering instruction to 540 under graduate students in 7 branches of Engineering (Chemical, Civil, CSE, ECE, EEE, ME, IT).The cse and ece branches take 120 students while all the others take 60.

It also offers a center for Industrial Consultancy, as a result Industrial Consultancy Research and Development(ICRD) centre has been started in 2001.

Seven batches of students have graduated so far. The overall pass percentage of the students graduated till now has been around 94% of which 45% got distinctions and 35% getting first class. The college has bagged several university ranks including university first ranks during the last 5 years.

The students of GVP College of Engineering have also performed exceedingly well also in national and international graduate level competitive examinations. Ranks like 2, 3, 4 in national level exams like GATE is a common trait among the students.

The college has an excellent record of campus placements. Students of 3rd and 4th years are placed into software companies like Yahoo!, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Solivar, IBM, and into core companies like ITC, L&T. About 90% of the eligible candidates get placed every year.

The students have done well also in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Several of them have represented the JNT University in inter-university tournaments and won medals even in National Games. A student chapter of ISTE is functioning in the college from 2003.

In spite of being only ten years old, the college has already a strong Industry-Institute Interaction. For further strengthening of this interaction, a separate center for Industrial Consultancy, Research and Development (ICRD) has been started in 2001. The earning for the consultancy by the various departments and this center has already pooled in a whooping amount of Rs.20.00lakhs. Some of the faculty members with their student members are associated with many private companies like GE and many more and with central government’s NAHI.

The college is proud of the fact that it is the only college selected by the J.N.T.U. from amongst its 180 and odd affiliated colleges to be a nodal center(along with constituent colleges at Kakinada, Ananthapur and Hyderabad) to offer the part-time contact-cum-correspondence course(CCC) leading to B.Tech Degree for diploma holders.

The college conducts symposiums and national level paper presentation events every year, with cooperation from various industries nearby. In fact, students of various prestigious colleges wait a year long to present their papers in the events conducted in this college. In view of its good track record the college has been selected by the government of Andhra Pradesh to be the implementing agency for setting up the Indo-German Institute of Advanced Technology(IGIAT) at Visakhapatnam, an institute for advanced training supported by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and German Government through their funding agency GTZ.
