Amphoe ") in the northwestern part ofNakhon Ratchasima Province .History
Originally, "Tambon "Samnak Takhrau was part of "Tambon" Pan Chana, Dan Khun Thot district. On April 1 1995 the Interior Ministry separated "Tambon" Samnak Takhrau, Nong Waeng and Bueng Prue to create the new minor district ("
King Amphoe ") Samnak Takhrau. As the minor district is located near the districts Thep Sathit and Si Thep. As both districts contain the word "Thep" meaning "angel" (Deva), the minor district is thus protected by angels. The government followed this suggestion and renamed to minor district to Theparak.Following a decision of the Thai government on May 15 2007, all of the 81 minor districts were to be upgraded to full districts.
