June 22 ,1804 -July 4 ,1855 ) was an American Whigpolitician . He was born in born inBarnard, Vermont onJune 22 ,1804 . He graduated fromMiddlebury College in 1825 and in 1828 from Castleton medical College and took up practice in Enosbury, a village inBerkshire, Vermont . In 1848 he was appointed professor of chemistry and natural history at Middlebury, and held the chair till 1854.He was a member of the Vermont state legislature, lieutenant governor of Vermont from 1843 to 1846 and governor of Vermont from 1846 to 1849, and a member of the Vermont State constitutional convention of 1848. He also served as the first state superintendent of education.
Eaton died in
Middlebury, Vermont onJuly 4 ,1855 . Interred at Enosburgh Center Cemetery.ources
