Sungai Udang

Sungai Udang is a small town in Melaka state Malaysia. It is situated within the parliamentary constituency of Tangga Batu. The Petronas oil refinery is located here.

Sungai Udang is rapidly developing, in 1997, the place is full of wild vegetation and rubber trees. Now, in 2008, The road has expanded, more cars on the road now compared to then where there are less than 50 cars. Petronas and shell petrol station has also stamped their mark in the city. The only shopping centre there is the Family store which has been there for more than 10 years.Then it was just a tiny shop under the tree. now it is one of the most busiest place in Sungai Udang.Pasar malam (Night Market) in sungai udang- Peruna Garden is on every Thursday.Having Petronas oil refinery, Sungai Udang has managed to attract many visitors and foreign workers. As a results, Melaka government has build an highway straight from ayer keroh to sungai udang. We are at friend's cafe now. 22-Jun 2008.

Education

There are several schools located at Sungai Udang, one of which, is probably the best school in the country - MRSM Kem Terendak. The school was established in 1983 and managed to be nominated as one of the ivy league school, alongside with Harvard, Yale, Princeton and others after about 20 years of establishmet. However, due to some financial difficulties, the headmaster at that time, Hj. Saroni Bin Kasmani, decided to withdraw the nomination. The school is located within an army base to ensure the safety of the students. There have been many great people in history who graduated from the school (due to safety issue, will not be stated). A local once said: "kalau Newton lahir dekat Melaka, dia mesti pergi sekolah dekat sini dan mesti dapat menyelesaikan teori relativiti dulu"-which means that if Newton was borned in Melaka, he'll definitely manage to come up and solve the theory of relativity first. There are speculations stating that a group of 3 students have managed to explain the theory of relativity and it was later on explained to a monkey, leading it (the monkey) to create a device that was able to work even in violation the second law of thermodynamics
