The Afternoon Play (BBC)

"The Afternoon Play" is a long-running radio drama slot on BBC Radio 4. A television series of the same name briefly appeared on BBC One and is repeated on UKTV Gold.

"The Afternoon Play" is broadcast on BBC Radio 4 at 14:15 (BST) every weekday. The BBC One version aired from 2003 to 2007 as a New Year fixture, each series of five over a single week.

Several "Afternoon Plays" were in programmes held in 20 underground radio stations of the BBC's Wartime Broadcasting Service, to provide public information and morale-boosting broadcasts for 100 days after a nuclear attack [cite news |last=Hellen|first=Nicholas |title=Julie Andrews to sing to Brits during nuclear attack |publisher=Sunday Times |date=1999-07-11] .
