Uziah Thompson

Uziah "Sticky" Thompson (b. August 1, 1936) is a Jamaican percussionist, vocalist and deejay. He has collaborated with countless reggae artists including Lee Perry, Bob Marley and Burning Spear. As a percussionist, Sticky has recorded on more Jamaican recording sessions and on more songs than almost anybody in the history of the Jamaican recording industry. Sticky was involved at the beginning of the Jamaican recording industry. He made records while the industry was still strictly calypso and mento.

As a teenager he began work with famed Jamaican producer Coxsone Dodd at Studio One. In the early 1960s, he became one of the earliest deejays, using the moniker Cool Sticky. As such he became one of the earliest men to record in the new deejay style, using his mouth to make clicks and other percussive sounds. As a deejay he recorded with The Skatalites and can be heard on the tracks "Ball Of Fire", "El Pussy Cat Ska", "Guns of Navarone", as well as others.

In the '70s, he made a few deejay records for master producer Harry Mudie.

Sticky is still very much active in the Jamaican music industry. As of the fall of 2007 he tours the world with the Ziggy Marley backing band.
