Stacey Cornbred was a fictional character, and former interviewer of the fighters, in the animated series "Celebrity Deathmatch", from 1998 to 1999, on MTV. She was voiced by Mz. L.

Life and death on Celebrity Deathmatch

Her early interviews included Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Clinton and a dual interview between Spike Lee and Quentin Tarantino, in which Stacey was caught up in the ensuing scrap that emerged. Her level-headed attitude allows her to resolve disbutes between celebrities, normally encouraging them to settle their differences in the ring, as was the case for Steven Seagal and David Spade.

During the second season, archive footage revealed that Stacey had corresponded for the show prior to Marv Albert, showing herself before the fight between Boy George and Don Johnson.

Stacey has offered her services in other methods, which include answering telephone calls during the "Salute to Laughter" episode, and replacing Nick and Johnny after their arrest, along with referee Mills Lane.

In episode 2-16, "The Prophecy", Stacey tries to convince Nick and Johnny to cancel the show due to a distressing prophecy she encountered earlier that day. However, her warnings were laughed off, even after everyone narrowly avoided death. However, at the end of the episode, after the main event fight between Gwyneth Paltrow and Winona Ryder, Stacey spontaneously combusted. The time machine was not used to bring her back, and the following episode was dedicated to her memory.

Brief Return

Stacey made a brief return in episode 3-17, "Halloween episode II." She was reanimated as a zombie to challenge Debbie in the main event, where she was defeated (messily) and put back to rest.

Trivia

*Stacey is a big fan of Tom Cruise
*The new CDM interviewer Tally Wong has referenced her three times when she is angry by saying, "What are you going to do, bring back Stacey Cornbred?"
