Name

The name "Midwest Blue" was picked based on the fact that the band is from the Midwest, and all members liked the color blue.

History

Founded by front man, Sam Swanson, and drummer, Aaron Krause, in April 2001, Midwest Blue added Billy Coghlan and Seth "Doc" White as bass and lead guitar players a short time later. They then recorded and self released released a 7-song EP called "The Colombus Conspiracy". After playing varied venues in the Midwest area, the band set out to write their second album. Shortly before recording, however, and on the one year anniversary of their first live performance, Billy Coghlan left the band and was replaced a short time later by Ryan Mazelewski. During post-production of what was to become "Remembering to Forget," Doc also left the band and was replaced by Scott Steele. In the summer of 2003, Post436 released Midwest Blue's second album "Remembering to Forget." The band toured in promotion of the album, and then went into the studio to record their third release, "Alarm Clock," which was released by Johann's Face in 2004. After over a year of touring and promoting, the band decided to call it quits in the winter of 2005.

Midwest Blue had their official "last show" on December 22, 2006, along with August Premier and The Alumni Club at Clearwater Theater, in East Dundee, IL. Sam and Mike have gone on to play in the Acoustic Power Pop band, Dormlife.
