James Prosek (born
May 23 ,1975 ) is an Americanwriter andillustrator . He is most well-known for his illustrations ofNorth American trout and other fish. Born inStamford, Connecticut , he is a graduate ofYale University .Prosek published his first book in
1996 while studying at Yale. "Trout: An Illustrated History" includedwatercolors of seventy species, subspecies, and strains oftrout in North America. His work has been featured in exhibitions at theGerald Peters Gallery inNew York City , theWestport Arts Center in Connecticut, and theDumbo Arts Center inBrooklyn .In
2003 , Prosek won thePeabody Award for his documentary on seventeenth-century author and fishermanIzaak Walton and his book "The Complete Angler". Prosek is also a fellow to theVermont Studio Center , and a visiting artist for theYale Summer School of Art . He also just recently wrote the novel "The Day My Mother Left"
