'Apoorva Jha' was a debutante in the much appreciated 2005 Bollywood movie, "Socha Na Tha". She was cast alongside Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia. Prior to the movie, she was a very successful model in Delhi.

She was born in Delhi, India.

Apoorva always insists that she never planned to foray into filmdom. ‘I have never believed in planning anything in life. Actually, it was a friend who prompted me to go in for the screen test. Considering that this friend had always discouraged me from entering films, I reasoned that I might as well give things a try. As luck would have it, I got selected from among hundreds of other aspirants!’

The girl who had never dreamt of flying, modelling or acting, has done all this and more during a short and sweet span of three years! ‘While I was in the third year of college, I was chosen to fly as an air hostess with Jet Airways. It was a sudden decision and I just went along with it.’ Then, one fine day, Apoorva decided to quit flying and start modelling! ‘This, again, was an impromptu decision for me,’ reveals Apoorva, ‘A few interesting assignments came my way and I felt that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take up modelling on a full-time basis. But I have no regrets about quitting a high-flying job to take up modelling.’

Since then, Apoorva has featured in a fair number of high-profile campaigns for leading brands. Apart from, of course, walking on the ramp at fashion shows. But destiny had better things in store for her — a break in Bollywood!

After clearing the preliminary test in Delhi, Apoorva went through a nine-hour-long screen test in Mumbai. And then, she was on the cast! Though her first movie did well, she did not pursue the career but went on to pursue an MBA degree in the United States at the University of Southern California (USC).
