Emily Alexander

Emily Alexander

Emily Alexander is the wife of First Lord of the Admiralty Hamish Alexander, Earl of White Haven and Admiral Honor Harrington-Alexander, Duchess and Steadholder Harrington. She is also one of Queen Elizabeth's distant cousins. Her proper title is Countess White Haven; she is styled Lady Emily.

David Weber has not included much information regarding Lady White Haven's life prior to her marriage to Earl White Haven. As a young adult, she was one of the Star Kingdom's best and most beloved tri-dee actresses. She was also extremely athletic, and included grav skiing and horseback riding among her hobbies. Both her acting career and her active lifestyle were cut short after a massive air car accident that left her paralyzed from the neck down. A genetic marker prevented Lady Emily from using the medical therapy known as "regen." Her body also rejected nerve grafts and transplants. As a result, Lady Emily has been confined to a life support chair ever since. Her mental faculties, however, are undiminished. The contrast between her physical handicap and her intelligence are a recurring plot point.

Although no longer an actress, she continues to write and produce movies, and is much respected for her talents in these areas. She is also an astute political analyst and advisor. When the Conservative Association attempted to smear Admiral Harrington's reputation by leaking false reports to the press that Harrington was having an affair with Admiral White Haven, it was Countess White Haven who stopped the controversy in its tracks by publicly inviting Harrington to her birthday party (conveniently held at Mount Royal Palace--home of Queen Elizabeth).

Lady Emily is the mother of two children, Raoul Alfred Alistair and Katherine Allison Miranda.
