=General=

Levkotopos (Greek Λευκότοπος Σερρών) is a beautiful village of the Serres prefecture in Central Macedonia/Greece). It has 242 inhabitants. In Levkotopos is situated the KEP (Citizens Service Center, ΚΕΠ) of the municipality of Achinos.

The village was founded on 1922, by Pontians, also by Greek inhabitants of north-east Anatolia ("Pontus"), an area whose population has been greek since the early Greek history, and whο were expelled from their homes in 1922, by the Turks.

The inhabitants of the village are mostly farmers who grow tobacco, olives, vegetables, fig tree fruits, organic products (almonds, nuts etc.) and herbs.

The Club of the former inhabitants of the village, who now live in Thessaloniki, organize on 28.th August of every year, (this is the holy day of Saint Ioannis Prodromos, to whom the beautiful, newly built village church is devoted), a very successful cultural event, which very often, will be regarded, as one of the most interesting, in the whole region of Serres.

The distance of the village from the sea (Amphipolis / Egnatia Odos is approx. 35 km (22 miles), from Serres 40 km (25 miles), from Kavala 55 km (35 miles) and from Thessaloniki 90 km (55 miles).
