The Quid

The Quid

"The Quid" was one of Winnipeg, Manitoba's most successful bands of the 1960s and 1970s. The original bandmembers included Lenny Fidkalo, Ron Rene, Bill Pavlik, Colin Palmer and Morley Nickles. They were the featured band on the compilation album "Winnipeg 1965-66"; and one of their songs, "Crazy Things" was included as a bonus track on the CD reissue of the early garage rock compilation album "Pebbles, Volume 2".

A 1980s concert in Winnipeg called "Shakin' All Over" brought "the Quid" together with other notable acts from the Winnepeg scene, including Neil Young, plus Randy Bachman, C. F. "Fred" Turner and Burton Cummings of the Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Later in the decade, the band reformed with some new members and was asked to open for Cummings, but this tour never took place.

In the Fall of 2007, Ron Rene (real name: Ron Mason) passed away in Vancouver of a sudden heart attack.
